Thermal Imaging for Buildings Course
Building thermal imaging course for surveyors, inspectors and assessors.
The Thermal Imaging for Buildings course is designed for professionals looking to gain quick competency in infrared thermography.
The course, ideal for building surveyors, inspectors and assessors, teaches delegates how to use thermal imaging cameras within the built environment. This will enable them to use infrared cameras to detect air leakage, missing insulation and heat loss.
Delivered over 3 days, the Thermal Imaging for Buildings course provides delegates with the skills and knowledge to thermally inspect and assess domestic properties and commercial buildings against a pass / fail criteria.
This course is suited for delegates not requiring an ISO Certified (Accredited) thermal imaging qualification.
Successful completion of the course provides eligibility for the Elmhurst Thermography Scheme.
• Basics of Infrared Thermography
• Thermal Camera Set-Up
• Thermal Camera Operation
• Building Fabric Applications
• Practical Exercises
• Practical Survey
• Image Tuning
• Post Processing
• Report Writing
Course content is subject to change
Thermal imaging cameras are not point-and-shoot. Many factors, such as ambient surroundings and camera settings, can affect the final image. This is one of the reasons why thermal imaging training is important. It’s one of the best ways to avoid common mistakes and create accurate and actionable reports.
This thermography course will enable delegates to use infrared cameras to detect thermal bridges, assess surface temperatures and monitor energy efficiency within the building envelope.
This course requires no previous thermal imaging experience or equipment.
To achieve the qualification, delegates will need to submit one report to iRed for assessment. The report can either be completed and submitted in the afternoon of Day 3, or can be submitted up to a year after course completion.
Learners will be expected to thermally tune five images (provided) prior to inclusion into the report template (provided). This assessment is a pass/fail exercise rather than an analysis assessment.
Elmhurst Energy’s Thermography Scheme offers credibility and quality standards for qualified thermal imaging inspectors who provide infrared thermography for building surveys.
Endorsed by Elmhurst, the iRed Thermal Imaging for Buildings Course provides delegates with instant eligibility for the scheme, enabling them to register as soon as the course is completed.
