Learn how to operate your thermal imaging drone for search and rescue operations – designed for the emergency services.

The Search & Rescue for Drone Operators course is for those looking to operate thermal imaging cameras on drones for emergency response situations. The course trains delegates on how to use drones to provide real-time data and visual information for disasters or incidents.
 
Search & Rescue (SAR) drone training equips first responders with the skills and knowledge to operate an infrared drone to locate and identify persons of interest.
 
The course teaches delegates how to maximise the benefits of their thermal imaging drone, focusing on subject recognition and quick deployment for emergency situations.

Course Details

Search & Rescue for Drone Operators is a 3-day course for new and existing pilots interested in using drones for emergency situations.

Using both theoretical and practical exercises, this drone course delivers a well-balanced training experience that’s suitable for first responders.

The Search & Rescue drone training courses’ main topics include:

Our SAR training course has been designed for the emergency services, yet can be attended by those interested in first response. The course will teach delegates how to maximise the benefits of their equipment, and how to deploy an aerial platform as quickly and effectively as possible in an emergency situation.

Those attending the course are not required to own a drone or any remote sensors. All equipment for training will be provided for the duration of the course.

Any practical exercises (weather permitting) involving drone flying will be operated by our training instructors. As such, pilots are not required to hold Permissions for Commercial Operations (PfCO) for this course.

This course has no specific entry requirements. It’s recommended that delegates have, or are working towards, gaining their Permissions for Commercial Operations (PfCO) from the CAA.

Students attending this course will need to complete a multiple-choice examination on their final day.
