Course Details

Photogrammetry for Drone Operators is a 3-day course for pilots interested in creating 3D maps and models with their drone.

Using both theoretical and practical exercises, the course delivers a well-balance training experience that’s relevant to current commercial needs.

Photogrammetry is the process of creating 3D models and maps with visual data. This can then be used for a multitude of applications including:
  • Land registry maps
  • 3D environment mapping
  • Map posting (Google)
  • Topography
  • Boundary mapping
  • Time-lapse site scans
  • Volumetric measurements

Successful completion of the course will provide delegates with the fundamental skills and knowledge to capture high-quality aerial images and convert these into orthomosiacs and point-clouds.

Those attending the course are not required to own a drone or any remote sensors. All equipment for training will be provided for the duration of the course.

Any practical exercises (weather permitting) involving drone flying will be operated by our training instructors. As such, pilots are not required to hold Permissions for Commercial Operations (PfCO) for this course.

This course has no specific entry requirements. It’s recommended that delegates have, or are working towards, gaining their Permissions for Commercial Operations (PfCO) from the CAA.

iRed training courses are delivered by industry experts, each with many years of teaching experience.

Our instructors have delivered hundreds of accredited thermal imaging courses, seminars, workshops and presentations since 2002. Courses have been delivered to multi-national organisations, global brands, universities, local authorities and small businesses throughout the world.
