ABOUT THE COURSE
Everything you need to know about delivering aerial thermal imaging services: the science, the equipment and the training.
Learn the basics of infrared camera operation and the applications of thermal imaging within the commercial UAV industry. The Introduction to Thermal Imaging for Drone Pilots provides an understanding on how Infrared Thermography works, how it can be applied to industry and what qualifications are required.
Free Session – Saturday 9th March 2019
Morning Session: 10.00am to 12.30pm
Afternoon Session: 14.00pm to 16.30pm
Session includes free bacon rolls, tea and coffee
Infrared cameras can be used to conduct aerial surveys of buildings, industrial plants, chimneys, heat vents, flare stacks and solar panels. Infrared cameras on drones also have a vital part to play in search and rescue, where they can be used to find missing persons.
There are many different infrared cameras available on the market and they all have different features. However, not all camera models are suitable for certain applications. The Introduction to Thermal Imaging for Drone Pilots session will help you to understand which infrared camera are most suitable for your requirements and budget. This will enable you to make an informed choice on purchasing or hiring the suitable equipment for your thermal imaging aerial surveys.
Every infrared camera requires setting up correctly, according to the application at hand. This course will touch on the basics of camera operation, and will explain that thermal imaging cameras are not ‘plug-and-play’.
There will be a range of cameras to view and trial during the course, alongside practical sessions (weather permitting).
There are a number of techniques that can be used to conduct an aerial survey or search and rescue with a drone. This course will demonstrate these methods in accordance with CAA regulations.
This course requires no previous drone or thermography experience.
Those attending the course are not required to own a drone or any remote sensors. All equipment for training will be provided for the duration of the course.
