Who Should Attend
- Those already in possession of a foundation thermography qualification or equivilant
- Site supervisors, maintenance managers or engineering managers wanting to undertake report writing
Undertake advanced infrared image analysis and report writing
Establish comprehensive condition monitoring programmes
Understand the causes of electrical failure and advanced fault-evaluation techniques
Understand IR windows, harmonics, eddy currents and high resistance faults
Understand the microbolometer infrared detector, RAT and temperature measurement
Norman Walker was the chairman for the UKTA for several years, helping develop the PCN Category 1 and PCN Category 2 thermography training courses. He’s PCN Category 3 qualified, holds a masters degree in maintenance engineering & management and has authored several BINDT approved infrared thermography handbooks.
The PCN Category 2 Electrical course is based on our core advanced module, and as such is aimed towards those already in posession of a foundation thermography qualification or equivalent. This PCN course allows delegates to further develop their theoretical understanding and practical ability with electromechanical thermography, learning how to start undertaking advanced thermal image analysis, produce highly technical reports and establish reliable condition monitoring programmes.
This course, designed to teach advanced infrared fault finding methods for electromechanical applications, is tailored toward commercial requirements. This means that the most current industry techniques and practices are included within the course contents.
BINDT will issue the PCN Category 2 Electrical qualification once delegates have passed 2 exams and logged 12 months of thermographic experience. Experience requires a minimum of 16 hours a month, totalling 192 hours for the year. This experience is on top of the experience required for PCN Category 1.
“Fantastic course, instructed by some of the most knowledgeable people in industry. Both theory based and vocational, it’s a great mix of both.” – Robert Wade, Condor Ferries
“The course was well laid out and well paced.” – Ashley Warner, Emcor
“This was a very good course. The instructors were well informed, engaging and balaned the practical training with the theoretical training well. Highly recommended to anyone seeking to improve their skills.” – Vasileios Sougkakis, University of Nottingham
